Quartz surfaces are non-hazardous in their finished form. However, cutting, grinding, drilling, or polishing may release respirable silica dust, which can cause serious lung injury, silicosis, or cancer with prolonged exposure.
Fabrication Safety Requirements
-Fabricators and installers must:
Use wet-cutting methods (do not dry cut)
Wear NIOSH-approved respirators
Use HEPA dust-control equipment
Follow OSHA and Cal-OSHA safety regulations
Restrict fabrication areas to trained personnel
-Inspection Requirement
Materials must be inspected before fabrication or installation.
Cutting or installing the product constitutes acceptance of color, finish, and condition.
