Important Health & Fabrication Safety Notice
Quartz engineered surfaces are non-hazardous in their intact form. However, activities such as cutting, grinding, drilling, polishing, shaping, or dry sweeping may release respirable crystalline silica dust, which can cause:
- Silicosis
- Lung injury
- Respiratory disease
- Cancer from prolonged exposure
Proper safety controls are required during fabrication and installation.
Installer & Fabricator Responsibility
The purchaser, fabricator, installer, contractor, and any downstream user are solely responsible for:
- Following all OSHA, Cal-OSHA, and NIOSH regulations
- Using required respiratory protection
- Implementing wet-cutting methods
- Maintaining ventilation and dust-control systems
- Providing appropriate PPE for workers
- Ensuring safe jobsite handling practices
Dry cutting is strictly discouraged.
Failure to follow applicable safety regulations may result in serious health risks.
Required Safety Practices During Fabrication
When modifying quartz materials:
- Use wet cutting methods only
- Wear NIOSH-approved respirators
- Use HEPA-filtered vacuum cleanup systems
- Avoid compressed air cleaning
- Wear eye protection, gloves, and protective clothing
- Wash contaminated clothing before reuse
- Do not transport silica-contaminated clothing home
Work areas involving fabrication should be restricted to trained personnel only.
Storage & Handling Requirements
To prevent damage or performance issues:
- Store indoors only
- Avoid exposure to sunlight and rain
- Avoid contact with acids or corrosive chemicals
- Support slabs evenly during transport and installation
Improper storage or handling may result in product damage not covered under warranty.
Inspection Requirement Before Installation
All materials must be inspected prior to cutting, fabrication, or installation.
Installation or modification of the product constitutes acceptance of:
- color variation
- surface characteristics
- dimensions
- finish condition
- suitability for intended use
Claims after fabrication or installation will not be accepted.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
Pacific Depot (or your company name) shall not be liable for:
- fabrication exposure risks
- installation practices
- jobsite safety conditions
- misuse or improper handling
- failure to follow OSHA or Cal-OSHA standards
- indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
Responsibility for safe processing and installation rests entirely with the fabricator, installer, contractor, and end user.
Acknowledgment of Risk
By purchasing, handling, fabricating, or installing this product, the purchaser and installer acknowledge:
- awareness of crystalline silica exposure risks
- responsibility for workplace safety compliance
- obligation to use appropriate protective measures
- acceptance of all associated handling requirements
